The Drag X3 arrives without a battery, and that is the first thing an owner needs to deal with. It runs a single external cell — either an 18650 or a 21700 — and neither comes in the box.
Which cell you fit matters more than the wattage you set, because the cell is what decides whether the device can safely supply what you are asking of it.
Choosing the cell
Eighty watts from a single cell needs a continuous discharge rating of roughly 28A. That is the figure to buy on, not the capacity — a high-capacity cell with a modest discharge rating is the wrong part, however good the milliamp-hour number looks. Batteries sets out the arithmetic and states the tested figure for each cell rather than the number on the wrap.
A 21700 gives you more capacity in the same device; an 18650 is the smaller and lighter option. Either fits. What matters in both cases is the discharge rating and the condition of the cell: a dented, dropped, or damaged wrap should be retired rather than pushed on with.
The cartridge and the coil
The cartridge is a five-millilitre PnP X, made in DTL and MTL forms, and the coil that goes into it is a separate purchase. Look under Replacement Pods for the first and Replacement Coils for the second.
Original PnP parts do not fit. The drip tip is removable and takes an 810 fitting, which is the wider of the two common sizes and suits the direct-to-lung draw the device is built around.
A 1.66-inch touchscreen carries three themes and reports what the device is doing. Power runs from five to eighty watts across Smart, RBA and ECO modes.
What to fill it with
At eighty watts on a sub-ohm PnP X coil, three milligrams at 70/30 is the correct fill, and six is the practical ceiling. Correct formats include Nasty Juice at three milligrams, Ultimate Juice 120ml at three or six, and a Doozy E-Liquids 100ml bottle with its shots added.
Fit the MTL cartridge and a higher-resistance coil, and the picture changes: a tight draw at low power wants a 50/50 salt at twenty milligrams, which is where ELFBAR ELFLIQ 10ml and BAR Salts sit. Nothing stronger belongs in this device at its sub-ohm settings.
Running it well
Charge the cell in the device over USB Type-C if that suits you, but an external charger is the better habit for any removable cell and gives you a spare ready when the first runs down.
A spare cell wants a case rather than a pocket. Bare metal against keys or coins is how one gets shorted, and nothing about that is hard to avoid.
Coils fail before anything else does, and sweet liquids shorten them. Order spares with the bottle.

A carry case for the cell is worth having before you need it, not after.
PnP X parts only. The similar-sounding original PnP family will not seat.
Retire a cell that has been dropped hard, dented, or gets warm in ordinary use.

A device on a removable cell is the practical choice anywhere in Kenya where charging is not always convenient, because a charged spare takes seconds to swap. Nairobi orders are dispatched same-day, and the rest of the country takes 24 to 48 hours.
