Battery selection depends on correct format, voltage, current rating, condition, operating limits and every exact device requirement. Capacity describes stored charge, while continuous discharge rating describes a current limit under stated conditions. Neither figure alone establishes compatibility or runtime.
The arithmetic, in one line
A conditional regulated-output estimate is current rating × cell count × 3.2V per cell × 0.9 efficiency. Actual voltage, efficiency, temperature and device requirements matter; the calculation is not a universal safe-output rating. Follow all exact manufacturer limits and leave an appropriate margin.
Read backwards; that shows what each mod needs. Eighty watts from a single cell wants roughly 28A. A hundred and seventy-seven watts from two cells wants about 31A each. Two hundred and twenty watts from two cells wants around 38A each.
A dual-cell mod is gentler on each cell than a single-cell mod at the same wattage, which is counter-intuitive and worth knowing: wiring the cells in series doubles the pack voltage, so each one supplies half the current.
What the market claims, and what cells actually do
Use the exact cell manufacturer’s specifications and clearly attributed independent test results, including temperature and other operating limits. Maximum, pulse, temperature-limited and continuous ratings are not interchangeable. Cell format alone does not establish a universal discharge ceiling, and a higher printed figure is not automatically meaningless. Check the actual device’s battery requirements; this does not approve any cell beyond the ratings used here.
Distinguish continuous discharge ratings from maximum or pulse figures. The Efest listing attributes a 20A continuous assessment to independent tests, while its wrapper carries a 35A figure. Use exact manufacturer documentation and clearly attributed tests with their operating conditions; do not substitute a maximum or pulse figure for a continuous-current limit.
Vapcell lists P42A as 4200mAh, 3.6V nominal and 30A continuous discharge. The green 4200mAh/30A manufacturer listing illustrates vape applications. Follow the exact cell, charger and device requirements; general marketing does not guarantee every-device compatibility. Four of the six cells here suit gentle use rather than a mod at full power. The Efest IMR 18650 4000mAh 10A Battery, the Vapcell M35A 18650 3500mAh 10A Battery, the LG INR21700 M52V 5200mAh Battery and the Vapcell F60 21700 6000mAh 12.5A Battery all hold a great deal and deliver it slowly, between 7.5A and 12.5A. They are good cells; they simply do not clear the discharge threshold a vape mod at full power needs, and their pages say so instead of leaving you to work it out.

Matched pairs and battery care
In a dual-battery mod, the two cells must be a matched pair: same make, same model, same age, charged and used together. Mixing cells is one serious avoidable error: mismatched cells can differ in capacity, condition and discharge behaviour. Suitable ratings, intact wraps, undamaged cells and correct handling also matter; follow the device, cell and charger instructions.
Beyond that, the ordinary care applies. A cell that has been dropped hard, dented, or has become warm in normal use should be retired. Damaged wraps should be replaced before the cell goes back in a device, not after.

Buying guidance
- Check the device’s minimum cell requirement as well as the power you intend to use. Lower output reduces the calculated current demand but does not override manufacturer minimum ratings. Under this page’s stated 3.2V-per-cell and 90% efficiency model, a matched pair rated at 30A supports approximately 173W; that is not approval for the full 220W or a claim about how most customers use the mod.
- Match the cell to the discharge figure, then look at capacity. A high-capacity cell with a low discharge rating is the wrong choice for a mod, however good the milliamp-hour number looks.
- For Armour Max, verify all cell and device requirements, including its 25A minimum. Vapcell publishes P42A’s core specifications; current and format alone are not a complete compatibility assessment.
- F60 and P42A have different listed capacity/current figures. Compare those with verified exact supplied-cell limits and actual device requirements; labels alone do not establish comparative runtime or suitability.
- Vapcell publishes 3500mAh typical and 3400mAh minimum for M35A. Those specifications do not establish independent measurements of supplied stock or a comparative runtime advantage. Choose matched pairs according to the exact cell and device instructions.
- Buy dual-mod cells in twos, from the same batch, and keep them together for the life of the pair.
- Efest and Vapcell single-cell purchases include a plastic protective case. An LG M52V pair shares a two-cell case; a single LG cell does not include that case. Obtain compatible charging and carrying equipment where needed.
Kenya and Nairobi relevance
Cells ship the same day within Nairobi and nearby towns, and in 1 to 2 business days elsewhere in Kenya. Where a cell is being sent upcountry, the carry case matters more than it does across town; a loose cell in a bag with keys or coins is the classic way to short one.
