VooPoo Drag 4 Mod Kit Review

The VooPoo Drag 4 is discontinued. This review stays up as a reference, covering the dual-18650 box mod and its PnP platform. It maps you to the Drag 5 at KSh 10,000 as the direct successor, or the Drag X3 at KSh 6,300 and the Drag S3 at KSh 6,200 for the Drag feel without a dual-battery mod.

VooPoo Drag 4 Mod Kit Review (2026 Update)
Vapesoko Nairobi no longer stocks the VooPoo Drag 4 Mod Kit. This review stays online for anyone researching the device, and it is updated with what we stock in its place as of September 2026.
If you are here to buy rather than to research, skip to the section below. The Drag 5 at KSh 10,000 is the direct successor in spirit, and the Drag X3 at KSh 6,300 or Drag S3 at KSh 6,200 are the answer if you want the Drag feel without a dual-battery mod.
Sold to adults of 18 and over. We verify age before dispatch, and our riders may ask for ID on delivery.

What the Drag 4 was

A high-power box mod kit: a mod with a removable tank, running on user-replaceable 18650 cells rather than a battery sealed inside the device.
That is the category, and the category is the point. A mod of this type is a platform. You buy the mod, and the tank, the coils and the batteries are all things you choose, replace and upgrade separately. It sits at the opposite end of the market from a sealed disposable.

What we will not tell you about it

The previous version of this page gave no price, no tank capacity and no coil resistances. We are not filling those gaps in.
The Drag 4 is discontinued and not in our catalogue, so we have no stock to check anything against. VooPoo published figures at launch, and we could copy them, but a number we cannot verify against a product in the building is not worth printing. What follows is how the device behaved, which does not depend on a spec sheet.

At a glance

  • Format: box mod kit, mod plus removable tank
  • Power: user-replaceable 18650 cells, not a sealed internal battery
  • Chipset: VooPoo's Gene series, the family's long-running strength
  • Adjustable: wattage, with the usual mod-level control over how the device fires
  • Specifications: not stated here; see above
  • Availability at Vapesoko: discontinued, not stocked

How it actually vaped

The Gene chip was always the Drag line's real selling point. Firing was quick and consistent, the wattage held steady as the cells drained rather than sagging off, and the screen gave you enough information to actually manage the device.
Build quality was the other half. The Drag series has generally been heavier and more solid in the hand than its competition, with resin panels rather than plain painted metal. It felt like a piece of equipment.
It also came with the honest downsides of the format. It is a large device that does not disappear into a pocket. It needs two cells bought separately, a charger, and enough care about battery safety to make it a poor first device. And it drinks liquid, which is why anyone running a mod buys in 100ml and 120ml bottles rather than 10ml.

What we stock instead

First, the actual decision: dual 18650 mod or built-in-battery pod mod?

This is the choice that matters, and it is worth being clear about before you look at prices.
A dual 18650 mod takes two removable lithium cells. When they are flat, you swap in a charged pair and carry on, so the device never has downtime. Two cells also give more sustained power, which is what high-wattage vaping needs. The costs are real, though: you buy the cells and an external charger separately, on top of the kit price, and you take on the responsibility of handling loose batteries sensibly. The device is bigger and heavier.
A built-in-battery pod mod has the cell sealed inside and charges over USB-C. There is nothing extra to buy and nothing loose to carry, and the device is smaller and lighter. The trade-off is that when it is flat, it is flat, so you are charging rather than swapping, and the battery is not replaceable when it eventually ages.
Put simply: swap versus charge, and power versus portability. Most people coming off a Drag 4 already know which side they are on.

VOOPOO Drag 5 Mod Kit, 177W, Dual 18650, KSh 10,000

The successor in spirit, and the only true like-for-like. Same format as the Drag 4, same dual 18650 configuration, same Gene lineage, and 177W of headroom. If you liked the Drag 4 because it was a proper mod, this is the one and nothing else on this list substitutes for it.
It is also the most expensive thing here, and remember the cells and charger are on top.

VOOPOO Drag X3 Pod Mod Kit, 80W, KSh 6,300

The Drag feels like a pod mod. 80W is serious power for this format and more than most pod mods offer. Our catalogue lists the X3's power rating but not a battery figure, so we are not stating one.
This is the pick if you want to keep the Drag character and the wattage but have stopped wanting to manage loose cells and a separate charger.

VOOPOO Drag S3 Pod Mod Kit, 3000mAh, 60W, KSh 6,200

The built-in-battery option. 3000mAh sealed inside, 60W, KSh 100 less than the X3.
The S and X split in the Drag line has been consistent for years: the X series leans towards power, the S series towards a self-contained device you just charge. The S3 is the smaller, simpler daily device of the two.

Also in the Drag family

  • VOOPOO Drag S2 Pod Mod Kit, 2500mAh, 60W, KSh 6,000, the previous S generation at KSh 200 less
  • VOOPOO Drag H40 Pod Mod Kit, 1500mAh, 40W, KSh 5,500, the smallest and lowest-power Drag we carry
  • VOOPOO Argus Pro 2 Pod Mod Kit, 3000mAh, 80W, KSh 6,500, the same power as the X3 with a built-in battery, if you are open to leaving the Drag name

Liquid

All of these are refillable, and a device in this power class gets through liquid quickly. Ultimate Puff 120ml at KSh 2,500 comes in 3mg, 6mg, 12mg and 18mg at 70/30 VG/PG. Ultimate Juice 120ml at KSh 2,300 comes in 3mg, 6mg and 12mg, also 70/30. Both are freebase and sized for exactly this kind of device.
