Can I replace just the coil in a Caliburn G3 pod?

No. The coil is integrated into the cartridge and cannot be removed. That’s the generational change the G3 introduced, and it applies to every UWELL G-series device since.

Are G3 pods and GPP pods the same thing?

Effectively yes. The platform documentation carries side-refill sizes and resistances identical to the G3 set, and UWELL describe the G3 Pro as a platform device. In practice, that means a G3 owner can buy from the whole GPP range.

Will a 3ml GPP cartridge fit my Caliburn G3?

UWELL assert compatibility across the whole platform but publishes no height clearance figures for the shorter bodies. On a standard G3, G3 Lite, G3 ECO or GK3, the 2.5ml size is the confident choice.

Which resistance should I start with?

The 1.2 ohm for the tightest draw on the platform. The 0.9 ohm if you want a little more warmth. The 0.6 ohm pulls considerably more liquid, so pair it with a lower nicotine strength rather than treating it as a straight upgrade.

The G3 cartridge and the UWELL Caliburn GPP Replacement Pods cartridge share the same sealed-coil design, but they are not the same part. Every GPP cartridge we stock is 3.0ml; the G3 is 3.0ml at 0.4 ohm and 2.5ml at 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2 ohm, so match the capacity as well as the resistance. Nothing on this page has a coil you can take out.

The resistance and the capacity are usually printed on the cartridge body or stamped into its base: that marking identifies the part far more reliably than the name of the device it came out of.

The generation where UWELL sealed the coil in

The Caliburn G3 arrived as the break point in UWELL’s pod line. Everything before it (the G, the G2, the GK2) used an empty pod and a separate coil. From the G3 onwards, the coil is moulded into the cartridge, and the two are replaced together.

Four cartridges, all mesh and all side filling: 0.4 ohm at three millilitres, and 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2 ohm at two and a half. It is a small and coherent range, and it became the foundation of everything UWELL have built since.

Three cartridges and where each one sits

The 1.2 ohm is the tight one and the natural first choice for anyone stepping across from a disposable. The 0.9 ohm is a conventional mouth-to-lung draw with a little more warmth and vapour.

The 0.6 ohm is the outlier: enough of a restricted lung draw that it pulls noticeably more liquid per puff, which changes the strength you want in the bottle. It is the one to move to if the tighter cartridges feel thin rather than the one to start on.

The 0.4 ohm cartridge is a three-millilitre part, and it is the one to pair with a G3 Pro rather than a standard G3: UWELL caps the standard G3 at 25W, which is below what a 0.4 ohm cartridge is built to run at. It is stocked, but check which G3 you own before buying it.

Eight G3-generation devices, and then some

The list starts with the devices this cartridge was designed for and then extends, because UWELL folded it into a wider platform. A G3 bought in Kenya several years ago has more options now than it did new.

This cartridge quietly became a GPP part

UWELL never announced it in one clean sentence, but the evidence is unambiguous. Their G Pod Platform page lists side-refill cartridges at exactly the G3 sizes and resistances. Their G3 Pro page references the platform by name. Their G4 Pro page describes the device as GPP-compatible.

The practical upshot is useful: a G3 cartridge and a UWELL Caliburn GPP Replacement Pods cartridge at the same capacity and resistance are the same part under two names, and a G3 owner has access to the whole GPP range rather than three options.

The one thing not to assume is that the taller three-millilitre GPP cartridges seat in the shorter G3, G3 Lite, G3 ECO and GK3 bodies. UWELL assert platform compatibility but publishes no height clearance figures, so the 2.5ml sizes remain the confident choice on those devices.

The first five minutes with a new cartridge

Fill it through the side port, seat it in the device and let it stand for five minutes. There is no coil to prime because there is no coil to remove, but the cotton inside still has to be wetted through and firing it dry will ruin it just as surely.

A G3 sets its own power from the cartridge it detects, so there is no wattage to configure and no way to run one too hot.

Lifespan, and the trade this architecture makes

UWELL publish no life figure for the G3 cartridge in any unit. Only the newer GPP Alpha carries one anywhere on this platform.

What is worth understanding is the trade. On the older G2 architecture, you replaced a small coil and kept the pod. Here you replace the whole cartridge every time. That is less to think about and less likely to go wrong, and it is more plastic through the bin for the same amount of vaping.

Salt, at a strength that follows the cartridge

A 50/50 nicotine salt across all three. Twenty milligrams on the 0.9 and 1.2 ohm cartridges, and ten on the 0.6 ohm, which moves considerably more liquid per puff. Both strengths are on the ELFBAR ELFLIQ 10ml shelf.

Take the twenty from BAR Salts 10ml, or step up to the Nasty Salts 30ml range at thirty-five if a low-powered pod and a heavier habit call for it. A thick sub-ohm liquid is not formulated for a cartridge this tight and is unlikely to wick into it properly.
