The smallest device here with a replaceable coil
VOOPOO built the H40 to be the smallest thing in their pod-mod range and stripped it to suit. Fifteen hundred milliamp-hours, forty watts, a small monochrome screen and a five-millilitre pod. It is the smallest device here in which the coil and the pod are separate parts.
That separation is the real difference between a pod mod and a pod kit. On a pod kit, you throw the whole pod away when the coil dies. Here the pod outlasts many coils, and the coil is the small part you replace.
The one thing you must get right on this device
The Drag H40 takes original PnP coils. It does not take PnP X. Every other VOOPOO device on this shelf takes PnP X, and this one does not, which makes it the single easiest ordering mistake on the shelf.
The part you want is VOOPOO PNP Replacement Coils, the VM, TW and TR series, dropped into the VOOPOO PnP II Replacement Pod 5ml. The two platforms use a different base connection, and a PnP X coil will not seat in a PnP pod in either direction.
Why the confusion exists, and how to avoid it
VOOPOO later released a Drag H40 Pro, and that device did move to the PnP X cartridge. So, copywritten for one ends up on the other, and a customer with an H40 buys coils for an H40 Pro.
Read the model name to the end before ordering, and be especially careful with anything imported into Kenya from a listing written for a different generation. There is also a legacy VOOPOO product confusingly called the PnP-X Pod which takes original PnP coils and is unrelated to the modern PnP X cartridge, a name collision entirely of the manufacturer’s making.
Two modes, and which to leave it in
Smart mode reads the coil and sets a sensible wattage for it, which is where most people should leave this device. RBA mode hands you the full five to forty watts and lets you find your own number.
The kit arrives with two coils covering both ends of what the device can do, a 0.45 ohm for a tighter, cooler draw and a 0.3 ohm for a warmer, looser one. Start on the 0.45 and move down when you know which you prefer.
Freebase, not salt, and why
Run at 0.3 ohm and thirty watts. This is a restricted direct-lung device, which puts it on freebase liquid at 70/30 and at a low strength. Three milligrams is where sub-ohm vaping sits, and six is about as high as it should go. The fifty-milligram salt that suited a disposable would be far too much through a coil this wide.
The E-Liquids shelf is where this device shops. Doozy Vape Co 100ml and Nasty Juice 60ml are both built for coils in this range. Fitting a higher-resistance PnP coil and a narrow drip tip brings it back towards mouth-to-lung, and then a salt makes sense again.
The figures VOOPOO leave blank
No dimensions, no weight and no charging input rating from VOOPOO for this device. Expect charging at around one and a half amps and roughly an hour; the weight figures in circulation disagree with each other by more than thirty grams.
The chipset is absent from VOOPOO’s main product page and appears only on their own storefront. There is no pass-through. The device will not fire while the cable is in.
What it does that the bigger ones do not
It is the oldest VOOPOO here and the least powerful pod mod on the shelf, and neither of those is the reason to buy it. What it offers is the pod-mod arrangement, where you replace a coil and not a whole pod, in the smallest body anyone has fitted that into.

Fitting the first coil properly
A separate coil needs more care on day one than a sealed pod does. Push the coil into the pod, wet the cotton visible at the side ports with a few drops of liquid, fill the pod, refit it and then leave it for five minutes before the first draw.
VOOPOO put a PnP coil at up to thirty-five millilitres of liquid, or roughly seven pod fills. That is a manufacturer figure and a generous one, but it makes the point: the coil is the part you replace, and priming it properly is what gets you the full run.
