The way onto the GPP platform
The G4 is the entry point to UWELL’s GPP platform, and the platform is the reason to care. Four devices on this shelf take the same cartridge in the same four resistances, so moving between them leaves your consumable shelf untouched.
On its own terms, it is a 1300mAh pod kit with a colour screen and thirty-five watts available, enough to run the whole GPP range from a tight 1.2 ohm mouth-to-lung to a 0.4 ohm restricted lung draw.
The cartridge flips, which is a real airflow control
UWELL gives you three ways to change the draw on this device: slide the airflow valve, load the cartridge the other way round, or do both. The second one is unusual, and it is not a gimmick; turning the cartridge presents a different air path, and the difference is audible.
The larger UWELL Caliburn G4 Pro Pod Kit 1800mAh 35W swapped it for a stepless slider; only the UWELL Caliburn G5 Lite SE Pod Kit 1600mAh 35W keeps it, and that device gives you no wattage control at all. So this is the one place you get both the reversible cartridge and a number you set yourself.
GPP, and the four resistances that define it
The consumable is the UWELL Caliburn GPP Replacement Pods cartridge, with the coil sealed inside. UWELL makes it at 0.4, 0.6, 0.9, and 1.2 ohms, and for each one they publish the wattage band it is built for. The 0.4 ohm wants the top of what this device can give; the 1.2 ohm wants well under a third of it.
Those bands are the single most useful set of numbers on this shelf, and almost nobody in Kenya prints them. Set the device inside the band for the cartridge you have fitted and a GPP coil is being run as intended; set it above, and it is not.
What GPP does not fit
UWELL states that GPP cartridges fit the Caliburn G3, G4, and G5 device families. They do not fit the older Caliburn G, G2, or GK2: those take a refillable pod with a separate replaceable coil, which is a different architecture and a different shopping list.
And the A-series is separate again. The UWELL Caliburn A3 Pod Kit 520mAh MTL takes its own pod and shares nothing with any of this.
Which bottle goes in it
The cartridge decides. Above about 0.8 ohm, the draw is tight, the liquid needs to be thin, and a 50/50 salt is the answer; the Nicotine Salts shelf covers it. Fit the 0.4 ohm, and the coil takes considerably more liquid per puff, at which point twenty milligrams becomes too much, and ten is the sensible move.
A 50/50 salt still works at 0.4 ohm; the coil is not sub-ohm enough to demand a high-VG liquid, but drop the nicotine. This is the most common adjustment new refillable users fail to make, and the symptom is a headache, not a bad flavour.
What UWELL leaves unpublished
No dimensions, no weight, no pod capacity, and no minimum wattage appear on UWELL’s page for this device. Unofficial figures fill those gaps, and they differ on the weight by nearly seven grams.
Capacity is worth a specific warning. GPP cartridges exist at three millilitres and 2.5 millilitres for most markets and at two millilitres for the UK and EU, so the figure follows the market the stock came from.
Which of the four GPP devices to buy
It is the plainest of the four GPP devices and the only one pairing the reversible cartridge with a wattage you set. The UWELL Caliburn G4 Pro Pod Kit 1800mAh 35W adds a battery and a touchscreen, the UWELL Caliburn G5 Koko Pod Kit 1600mAh 35W changes the shape, and the UWELL Caliburn G5 Lite SE Pod Kit 1600mAh 35W removes the controls entirely.
None of the four is more powerful than any other. Thirty-five watts is the ceiling on all of them.
The first cartridge, and what to do with it
The kit ships with GPP cartridges fitted and spare. Fill one and let it stand upright for five minutes; draw on it once or twice with the device switched off. GPP seals the coil inside the cartridge, so firing it dry writes off the whole cartridge and not merely a coil.
Set the wattage inside UWELL’s band for that resistance before the first fired puff, not after. Starting a fresh 0.4 ohm cartridge at thirty-five watts is the other way to shorten its life on day one.
