This is the Caliburn for somebody who wants the platform and none of the interface. There is no fire button, no wattage menu, and no screen. Fit a cartridge, draw on it, and the device applies whatever power that resistance wants.
It is as simple to operate as anything here and carries more than three times the battery of the UWELL Caliburn A3 Pod Kit 520mAh MTL, with four cartridge resistances to choose between instead of one fixed pod.
Two airflow controls on a device with no controls
UWELL describes a dual adjustable airflow system: a slider on the body, and the ability to load the cartridge either way round. Between them, the device coversmouth-to-lungg through to restricted lung.
That is worth noticing, because it means the thing this device took away is the wattage number, not the ability to change how it draws. The control that most affects how a vape feels is still here.
What Lite and SE actually mean
Lite is a real sub-model of the G5 generation, the button-free, auto-power, LED-only version sitting below the full G5. That part is substantive.
SE is not. On UWELL’s own page, the G5 Lite and the G5 Lite SE share one specification and differ in finish: a translucent dual-layer shell on the Lite, a dual-tone leather and striped texture on the SE. UWELL never expands the abbreviation anywhere, so anyone telling you what the letters stand for is guessing.
The cartridge does the choosing
With no wattage control, the UWELL Caliburn GPP Replacement Pods cartridge you fit is the only decision on the device. At 1.2 ohm it is a tight mouth-to-lung; at 0.4 ohm it is as loose and as warm as thirty-five watts allows.
UWEL does publish a target band for each resistance, though on this device that is informative without being actionable. It tells you roughly where the machine will put itself once it reads the cartridge. The tighter the cartridge, the gentler the setting it lands on.
Liquid, on a device that chooses its own power
Salt, at 50/50, from the Nicotine Salts shelf. What is different here is that, with no power control, the cartridge is your only lever on how much nicotine arrives per puff (so if the first bottle feels strong, the fix is ten milligrams instead of twenty, or a tighter cartridge), not a setting you go hunting for.
That is the honest limitation of an auto-power device. Taking away the wattage control removes one way to get a vape wrong and one way to put it right, so the bottle you choose carries more weight here than on a device with a dial.
What UWELL does not publish, and what is disputed
No dimensions, no weight, no charging rating, and no cartridge capacity from UWELL. Quoted weights run from fifty-three grams to seventy-two, a nineteen-gram spread on a device that fits in a hand, not a rounding difference, and no reason to trust either figure.
The charging rate is disputed too, at one amp on some listings and two on others. An independent tester measured the closely related G5 Lite at one amp and around seventy minutes.
The same cell as the Koko, the opposite philosophy
Same cell and same ceiling as the UWELL Caliburn G5 Koko Pod Kit 1600mAh 35W, opposite philosophy. The Koko gives you one-watt steps and a side button; this gives you neither and asks you to trust the cartridge.
One thing to watch when ordering: UWELL also makes a G5, a G5 Lite, and a G5 Lite Koko. Four names, four devices, and only one of them is this.
What to do with it first
The kit ships with a 0.6 ohm side-refill cartridge. Fill it, stand it upright for five minutes, and take a couple of draws with the device idle before you vape it. There is no button to hold off with here, so the wait is the only priming step there is, and in Kenya’s heat a warm cartridge wicks faster, which makes five minutes generous rather than tight.
After that,t the setting-up is done, because there is nothing to set. If the draw is tighter or looser than you want, move the slider or turn the cartridge round; if the strength is wrong, that is the bottle rather than the device.
